Continuous Learning is The Real Learning
No one can have the sign as an expert if they stop studying. An
expert is the one who concern in the subject and make it as the most habitual
activity to do. A lawyer can be the more professional if they had been
solved judicial court in various
cases. He will find many ways to defend an argument to safe the interest of
client. Study every time, even not in the class. It is also done by an
auditor which the accounting standard always change dynamically. The
circumstance of professional will always teach the idea of continuous learning
in their activities.
Study is a limitless definition. It is not only
about sit in the class, hear the lecture, and go home by bringing compulsory
task for another week to be collected. Sometimes the economic student who
actively go to class and hear the lesson from lecture cannot argue about
solving economic problem in his/her country unless the student read newspaper
or watching television news channel. Surely being an updater who learn continuously
is the most important.
Unfortunately, there is such a problem when a
student in the university restrict the definition of study just reading an old
book which created by the old international expertise. Scrutinize the lecturer
and make it an only source of knowledge will be misleading. As an example
above, as an accounting student who life in economics and business faculty, I
just really understand how the case exist around the student. It such an easy
example to be understood the recent condition that people begin to neglect continuous
learning.
As an accounting student, I also find the similar
problem. Instead I am one of the example, an updateless student who don’t know if new accounting
standard was ratificated and another standard was amended. Surely I and recent
accounting student face the problems, though actually it is not a real problem in
digital era whom we can instantly click the website of Institute of
Indonesia Chartered Accountants for keeping update about new standard. I can explicitly say how those
professional who directly fall in the field and find new various thing to be
learned can be called as the real student than academician in the university
which basically stagnant in old theory.
Surely it’s wrong for me to make an instant conclusion that academician
have the minimal continuous learning than professional. It only for being a lash
to everyone in university not to stop learning. Sometimes the idea of continuous
learning which pushed by faculty members to student is keep updating by reading
an international journal so we can know what happen recently to the world. I am
sure it is good but I cannot deny reading local newspaper and stay contact with
national news TV channel can be a good way to really update about what happens
to our surroundings and learn from them how to do something, how to avoid
something, and how to know and think hard to solve another things.
However sometimes a professional expert also cannot be the
real example a continuous learning figure. An old auditor who think they have
been a legend can be eroded if they still do not understand the new system of
auditing in digital era. I heard much from one of my lecture that the financial
report of client was judged as unqualified opinion for many times by the
previous auditor, but it can be an adverse opinion after another auditor who
understand about IT based system can disclose the existence of fraud by the
right of access to delete audit trace by some of officer. It is a leak, and an
old auditor who does not learn about IT based system business model recently
can be eroded wholeheartedly.
Those an expert are the one who will always have
vigorous continuous learning in their life. They will always learn every day
about what happen in their surroundings so they can adjust to every new zone in
this life. Being welcome to new circumstance by learning it continuously can make
someone will never make our basic knowledge in vain. Maybe this is my
glance hypothesis to call unemployed bachelor in a developing country is the one who
does not do continuous learning in their life, they just pride with the title in their
Bachelor’s Certificate.
This article does not mean any blame to one side, just really figuring out. It remind me how I try
to describe what happened in my surrounding is really my own problem. So
captivating to get excellent score in all my financial accounting subject
class, but I left behind to know a new standard has come in and must push me
adjusting my old knowledge by new dynamic rapid changing.
